Meningococcal Meningitis
Vaccination-- Meningococcal
Meningitis is a rare but
potentially fatal illness.
There is a greater potential
risk of infection for certain
college students (i.e. freshman
living in residence halls),
although the risk for
contracting the disease is low
for the general population.
Additional risk factors for
meningitis:
anyone who has a compromised
immune system;
anyone who has had close contact
with a known case;
anyone traveling to areas of the
world where the disease is at
high risk;
and anyone with an upper
respiratory infection.
The vaccine is 85% to 100%
effective in preventing certain kinds
of bacteria that cause about 70%
of the disease in the United
States of America. The cost to
you is $100.00, however, call
our clinic or contact your local pharmacy to verify
the price. (As required by
Arkansas Legislative Act 1233).

to make special arrangements for
proper storage. However, we may
be of assistance to you if
